Finding a restaurant where you can order anything on the menu without asking about gluten is rare. At Sinq on Maribyrnong Road in Ascot Vale, that is simply how we cook. Here is everything you need to know before your first visit.
Everything on the menu is gluten-free
Our whole kitchen is free of wheat, gluten and refined sugar. Our injera is made from 100% teff flour and water, our broths are simmered in house, and our spices are roasted in our own kitchen. You can see into the kitchen through our window, and we are always happy to tell you exactly what is in a dish.
What to order on your first visit
- Sinq Vegan Platter: six vegan stews and a fresh tomato salad on one platter. Our most loved dish and a great way to try a bit of everything.
- Tibs: sautéed grass-fed beef, lamb or goat, made the way you like it, from mild to spicy.
- Besiga: meat and a vegan stew cooked together as one dish.
- Kategna: crisp toasted injera with spiced ghee and berbere, perfect as a starter.
If you are coming as a group, order a few dishes and share. That is how this food is meant to be eaten.
How the meal works
Dishes are served on injera, a soft, slightly tangy teff flatbread. Tear off a piece and use it to scoop up your food. Cutlery is always available if you prefer it.
